ABOUT THE ARTIST
Joy Skinner is a self taught artist whose vivid style evokes a quality of strength and purity. "One's perception is transformed and the subject matter becomes something far richer in the experience of the viewer." Joy's talent emerged at a time when her children were grown and moving on with their own lives. She loved the "Luminosity" and "Transparency" of watercolor, enjoyed the challenge of having to "Get it right the first time" and decided her biggest challenge of all was going to be adding vibrancy to this mix.
Born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba Canada, Joy found that her mood was often dictated by the weather. As a result, her paintings are inspired by thoughts of warm summer days with visions of light dancing on otherwise inanimate objects, seemingly bringing them to life.
My Studio
My studio is in Naples, Florida, where I am inspired by the beauty that surrounds me. Most days finds me with a paintbrush in hand, conducting workshops, or touring around with my camera.
